These clients approached us with a drainage problem—water was backing up to the house and not properly moving through the property. They were already interested in native plants and wanted to create casual, functional hang-out spaces, along with an easy-to-maintain yard full of life. The husband, an avid cyclist, was excited about the idea of an improved outdoor shower, complemented by an inviting outdoor grill and dining area. Prioritizing a family-friendly landscape, they sought a diverse, thriving environment without overspending. We used reclaimed materials, removed invasive species, and added numerous understory trees, grasses, and perennials. To address the drainage, we graded the land and created a rock channel filled with grasses and a swale. A charming bridge leads to a meadow brimming with a diverse range of native plants, blending functionality with natural beauty.
